Representing both plaintiffs and defendants, Kenneth J. Vanko is one of the leading experts in the western suburbs of DuPage and Kane counties in the growing area of unfair competition law.  He has represented clients in diverse fields such as accounting, manufacturing and technology in the areas of:

·        restrictive covenant agreements

·        trade secrets

·        common law unfair competition claims, such as breach of fiduciary duty

Among the recent highlights in his practice, Mr. Vanko has won favorable defense judgments in the Circuit Court of Cook County on a multi-million-dollar trade secrets case, successfully excluding multiple expert witness opinions on complex damages issues.

Mr. Vanko also secured a successful defense judgment in an employee non-compete dispute in the auto glass service industry.  The successful defense in Indiana State Court also resulted in attorney fees shifting in favor of the prevailing defendants.

Mr. Vanko has authored articles on employment restrictive covenants in The DePaul University Business and Commercial Law Journal (Fall, 2002) and the Illinois Bar Journal (May, 2007).  His work has also appeared in The University of Illinois Law Review.

In addition to his transactional and litigation practice concerning restrictive covenants, Mr. Vanko counsels clients on protecting their intellectual property and avoiding costly litigation.

Prior to joining Clingen Callow & McLean in July of 2001, Mr. Vanko was an associate in the chancery litigation practice at Baker & McKenzie.  Mr. Vanko received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, cum laude, from Ohio State University in 1994. While at Ohio State, he was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Fraternity and The Ohio State Golf Team. Mr. Vanko received his Juris Doctorate degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1997. While in law school he was the Editor of the 1997 Moot Court Board and Associate Editor of the University of Illinois Law Review.
